Writing is Easy. Publishing is Easier. Selling is Hard.

June 12, 2017

By Faithe Thomas and Annalisa Parent

Most writers struggle at one time or another with writer's block. Some authors start dozens of books, but never finish them. Even so, in the grand scheme of things, the writing part of your book is the easy part.

Being able to write does not mean your book is ready to publish. Even the best writers know that their work needs to go through various levels of editing, re-writing, and proofing - and not just by anyone, but by someone who knows what they are doing.

Once your book is complete, the next step is publishing. Publishing is easier today than it has been at any time in history. The prevalence of technology and the lower cost of entry into the publishing world have created an avalanche of books, many so poorly done that no one is buying them.

It is easy to be stuck with an ebook that is never seen on anyone's search, not to mention actually read on their screen. It is even easier to be stuck garage full of books. Neither of these nightmares were part of your dream of becoming a writer.

Selling is hard for most people. But it does not have to be. Selling well starts before you put pen to paper. Start with a marketing plan before you get going. Knowing your audience, knowing your marketing, and knowing yourself are keys to creating a strong author platform.

The best plan is to have a plan; line up your writing coach, your publishing coach, and your marketing coach before you even start. It is difficult to find all of these under one roof. At Laurel Elite Books, we have coaches for each phase of your book and we walk you through the entire process. Our goal is to make the writing easy, the publishing easier, and the selling a cinch.

We have limited opening for our September 2017 nonfiction retreat where we take you from idea to book. To find out more, and to talk with us about your book project, visit www.laurelelitebooks.com/registration.
